Although kms and kms of driving, on what sometimes seems never ending roads, the untamed scenic beauty of ocean vistas, lush (boreal) forests, coastal temperate rainforest, alpine tundra, grasslands, prairie farmlands, wetlands, land dotted with lakes, rolling hills, numerous wildlife and less human encounters, largely unpopulated wilderness, stunning mountainviews, glaciers you can almost touch, ghost towns, history of the pioneer days, native history, old trails and relics from the Second World War era... those roads have their own story to tell.

Day 4:BC's largest man-made lake, hiking along Butler Ridge, mysterious 'Steam Vents', one of the world’s largest earthen dams, bald eagles to be viewed in abundance, dinosaur fossils and tracks at the local museum are just some of the attractions putting this wonderful region on the map.

Day 5:Driving:
Finally... At the end of Don Philips Way you'll enter the world famous Alaska Highway, another part of Highway 97. Watch for bears berrypicking along the roadsides. They are a common sight. It was a task done by more than 10,000 soldiers from the Army Corps of Engineers, in eight months that rivals the building of the Panama Canal as one of the world's great engineering marvels.
Your today's destination leads to Toad River.
From Hudson's Hope Museum to Toad River (Historic mile 422) your estimated driving time is 8 hours and 9 minutes.
