Florida the sunshine state

Florida the sunshine state

On this 12 day trip of 1641,85 km (1020,20 miles) we'll guide you through a spectacular Florida holiday.

As the license plate indicates, Florida is the "Sunshine State". So close to the equator there are no traditional four seasons. Roughly said Floridians talk about Hurricane (or Rainy) or Dry Season. Most of the tourists will honour Florida with a visit from mid-December to mid-April, when the dress code appears to be 'the less the better'. This is called high-season. If you're not afra...

If you're not afraid of some tropical showers or a hurricane that blows through, April through May, and September through November are another possibility.

A Florida vacation is all about state-of-the-art surfing, silky shores, endless beaches, snorkeling, diving, jet-skiing, tasting the famous Key Lime pie, mangroves, swamps, Walt Disney, crocodiles, alligators, airboat tours, historic forts, mysterious shipwrecks, extensive coral reefs, glass bottom boat tours, black bears, manatees, sea turtles, shark teeth hunting, and even more. This trip is just a small selection of the great opportunities Florida offers. This trip is well suited for families with children.

Florida Keys

Florida Keys2 nights
Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center

Look for accommodation in Key West.

Probably you know that Key West is the most Southern tip of the USA. But have you ever heard about "gypsy chickens"... you'll definitely hear and meet some of them, because they are all around Key West. Besides the colourful proud roosters and mother hens there is much much more to discover in this very special place.

Info for this point: Take a journey into the world of the native plants and animals of the Keys, both on land and underwater.

Day 3:Because the driving from Miami is not too far, we give you some suggestions to spend the rest of the day.
You'll be charmed by the amazing Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center. Here you will have a glimpse of the beautiful, extensive coral reefs and other marine life to mysterious shipwrecks part of Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. The kids will be attracted to the 2,500-gallon reef tank with living corals, tropical fish and more.
Don't miss a visit to the famous Mallory Square and the oldest house in South Florida. They are part of a self guided tour named the "Pelican Path Self-Guided Tour". From Mallory Square you can watch the mighty cruise ships come in and out. At the end of the day you have to come back here to experience the famous "Sunset Celebration".

Day 4:You easily can spend the day by taking a day trip with the Yankee Freedom to Dry Tortugas National Park. As a cheaper alternative you could choose for a fine alternative and spend a part of the day at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park. Treat yourself and the kids on a little snorkeling adventure and hire some gear provided by the park's concessionaire. Grab a lunch at the park's restaurant and extend your day with a short visit to Southernmost point, West Martello Tower, White Street Fishing Pier and the Key West Wildlife Center. They will all give you an unique perspective of this colourful town.

Day 5:Driving: From Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center to Caspersen Beach your estimated driving time is 6 hours and 18 minutes.
